WHAT IS THE CAMP HASC HOCKEY CLASSIC?
The 3rd Annual Camp HASC Classic is a highly anticipated yearly floor hockey tournament, benefiting the special campers of Camp HASC. Founded in 2017, by Gilad Rosenberg and Sam Schertz, the HASC Hockey Classic is comprised of 12 teams with over 150 competitors, representing the all-star alumni of the following schools: TABC, DRS, HAFTR, KUSHNER, MTA, FLATBUSH, FRISCH, HANC, SAR, TEAM CANADA, RAMAZ and RAMBAM. The tournament has raised $100,000 in each of its two years, to benefit Camp HASC.
WHAT IS CAMP HASC?
For more than forty years, Camp HASC has served the Jewish community as the premier summer program for children and adults with special needs, intellectual and physical disabilities.
Camp HASC is unique in its ability to meet the complex personal, social, therapeutic and medical needs of our very special campers, who enjoy a seven week sleep-away camp experience, just like many of their siblings and friends.
WHAT IS THE TOURNAMENT DATE?
The tournament is scheduled to take place all day Sunday, September 15th 2019. There will be round-robin games in the morning, with tiered, tournament style play beginning at around noon.
WHERE WILL THE TOURNAMENT TAKE PLACE?
The tournament takes place in Teaneck, NJ. In the morning we utilize the gyms at TABC, Maayanot and Yeshivat Noam, and as the day progresses we consolidate all our games into the primary TABC and Maayanot locations.
HOW WILL THE TOURNAMENT WORK?
In the morning, all participating teams will compete in one of 4 round-robin divisions and play 2 games to be seeded. Based off those games the top 2 teams from each division will advance into Tier-1 and the 3rd place team will advance to Tier-2. Each tier will then compete in a single elimination playoff. For those who lose during the playoffs, consolation games will be offered.
WHAT ARE THE GAME RULES?
We primarily follow standard “MYHSHL” rules. For more details please see the “rules” tab.
WILL THERE BE FOOD?
Yes. We have an excellent catered dairy lunch from EJs, as well as a delicious meat dinner banquet from Dougies. Additionally, our participants are provided with energy bars, gatorade and plenty of water to stay energized and hydrated throughout the games.
ARE FAMILIES INVITED TO ATTEND?
Absolutely. The tournament has a festive atmosphere and a few hundred people stop by throughout the day to spectate. Feel free to drop by to cheer on loved ones, support a great cause and watch some excellent hockey.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
If you are an alumnus of a specific school contact your Team Captain to ask if the team has a spot. Additionally, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire.
WHAT ARE THE FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS?
Each player must raise $500 and collectively the team goal is $8,000. If both the individual commitment isn’t raised and the team goal isn’t met, the difference will be charged to the credit card on file
HOW DO I FUNDRAISE?
Start with your friends, family, and co-workers. You may be surprised how easy it is once people hear about the cause you’re beenfiting and the fundraising commitment you’ve made. Small donations pile-up quickly to bring you to your goal. Additionally, the staff at Camp HASC will be happy to assist you in any way possible. We’ll provide messaging and materials to assist you in meeting your fundraising goal.

IS THIS DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes. Camp HASC is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
P L A Y E R R U L E S
- Each game will have 3 Ten Minute running time periods, the last 2 min of 3rd Period is stopped time at each whistle
- Round Robin – Overtime – 4 Minutes 3 on 3, Shootout 3-3 from each team, Then sudden death 1-1
- Penalty 1:00 running, 2:30 for a major penalty( Last two minutes of the third the penalty will be stopped time)
- Teams will switch sides after the 1st period as well as after the first whistle after the 5 Min mark of the third period
- Round Robin Tie Breaker goes by 1) Overtime Loss 2) Head to Head 3) Goal Differential (if 3 teams tie after goal differential Most goals scored) 4) Shootout
- Each Player is required to bring and wear their own Helmet, gloves, Athletic cup and Hockey Stick
- CAMP HASC will be providing a Jersey and sweatpants for each player, players need to provide their own helmets, gloves and sticks
